The studio intends to discuss and identify the position of craft in contemporary interior architecture practices. With a combination of research and design processes, each student through their individual design manifesto challenges their preconceived notions, establishing craft as a forerunner of interior design decision making in the future. Through structured design explorations, together the works respond to the central question: what position will craft have in interior architecture practices in the future? The studio intends at cultivating and strengthening interior design decision making abilities for a given socio- cultural context. It also aims to sensitize students toward concerns of the global world, endowing with the spirit of tolerance towards pluralism in interior design practices of India. The studio is largely divided into four modules, emphasizing the learning outcomes of the course: KNOW the contemporary position of craft, IDEATE possibilities about the vision of the future, DEVELOP an individual design position for its future and MAKE design propositions representing the vision of future of craft.
